In Acts chapter 19 we read of Paul arriving in the great commercial city of Ephesus. He finds a few disciples who appear to have received John the Baptist’s baptism. The first question Paul asks is, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” We need to make sure that we have received and are fully operating in all that is available to us through the Holy Spirit.
Over the next couple of months, we are running the ‘Flowing with the River’ course with two churches. The videos of this teaching are on our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@mapmakers5646/videos
Paul then enters the synagogue speaking about the kingdom of God, and when he is opposed and met with unbelief moves to a local hall. Here the apostle establishes his base camp from where he will equip, train, and release many people who spread the word and birth new churches throughout the whole region.
We see the need for such Base Camps today in our land that will envision believers, energise prayer, and equip God’s people to be fully fit for his purposes, who are then being launched out and released in Spirit-empowered mission.
This year’s Raise the Bar in March seeks to bring together those who have a heart and vision to see this wider envisioning, energising, equipping, and empowering of the body of Christ. It is a day to worship and pray together, share stories of God at work and the challenges we face, and to receive fresh input and inspiration to press on into all that the Lord has taken hold of us for.
